LICENSE
Apache-2.0. What everyone may do with the code.
CLA.md
What you grant FaPost Lab by contributing.
TRADEMARK.md
What you may call your own work.
Licence
Core and both packages are Apache-2.0. See Introduction for why that licence rather than MIT.Contributor License Agreement
The CLA must be accepted before a contribution can be merged. It does not transfer ownership: you keep the copyright in everything you contribute and stay free to use it elsewhere, including in other projects. Accept it by stating this in your pull request:The clause worth reading twice
Section 4 lets FaPost Lab distribute your contribution under Apache-2.0 and under any other licence the project later adopts, including a commercial or source-available one. It is bounded: a contribution stays available under Apache-2.0 in the releases where it was already published. The clause exists so the project can change how it is licensed without tracking down every past contributor — not so that published code can be withdrawn from open source retroactively. If that trade is not acceptable to you, it is better to know before you write the patch than after.Trademark
The Apache licence covers the code and explicitly does not grant rights in the name or logo. The trademark policy is what governs those. The short version for people building on FaPost: No permission needed to say your product works with FaPost, to write about the project, to redistribute unmodified releases, or to run a community meetup. Permission needed to name a product or company after the Marks, to run a hosted service under the name, to register a domain containing “fapost”, or to publish under thefapost/* Packagist namespace.
The naming rule that catches people out: the Marks may be a descriptive
qualifier, never the leading element.
Forks are welcome — the licence permits them — but a fork distributed under the
FaPost name needs written permission. Give it its own name and state factually
that it is a fork.
Spelling
The policy also fixes the spelling, and the codebase follows it:FAPost, FAPOST, and FA Post are not used.
